All of us know the MOA competition from MSI (read our news about the American qualification), but today here is something different. This event that is going to take place in Malaysia is something new for MSI.

Indeed, MSI will be holding this weekend an event to attract new overclockers. So far we only heard about other vendors pushing that kind of events and it is a great news to see MSI doing the move in south-east asia.

Malaysia MSI OCer Gathering

Known under the name of MOA 2012, MSI malaysia decided to hold a gathering to educate people about Overclocking. This event focuses on Mild Overclockers and New Overclockers. As for similar events, this events intends to increase overclocking awareness, teach enthusiasts about it and ignite overclocking knowledge sharing.

MSI Malaysia – Overclocking Competition

To participate to the competition, you have to send an Email to aqmalzaki [ at ] msi .com with the following details:

  1. Real Name
  2. Contact number

Hurry-up, only the first 25 will be able to participate at the Overclocking Competition.

Benchmarks

For this competition, there will have only 5 setups and 25 participants. So,according to MSI there will be 5 rounds and winner for each round will fight for the final round. Each round will be 15mins long. This is pretty short indeed, and we hope that this won’t make the competition too tense for the contestants. We believe that it will feel more likely like a Time OC attack.

Each of the 5 rounds will be running under a different benchmark to avoid other participant to remember other’s setting.

The benchmark will vary as following:

  • CPUX – highest speed validated with x48 multiplier (blck oc test)
  • 3Dmark Vantage CPU test ( no speed limitation, vcore limited to 1.5v)
  • Wprime 32M ( limited to 2 cores and 4 thread)
  • SuperPi 8M
  • Maxxmem ( limited to 4.5Ghz cpu speed)

No points will be attributed to rankings. To proceed to the next round you simply need to win the round match.

Finally, the final round is going to have some specific settings.

  • Time given is 20mins
  • CPU max ratio allowed is x53
  • A screen shot of SuperPi  1M with CPUZ main and spd tab.

Gear

The specs for the competition are the following:

  • CPU: Intel Sandy Bridge I7 2600K

Best Reporter Contest – Win a seat to MOA 2012
